Goal of the Fund
The Ida M. Masselli NAACP Scholarship Fund exists to support the educational aspirations of young people living in the fifteen towns of Middlesex County, Connecticut. The Fund aligns with the NAACP’s overall mission “to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate hatred and racial discrimination.”
The Fund is named for Ida Marie Masselli (1918-2009), pictured at left with her family. Ida was born in Middletown and lived for many years in Middlefield, Connecticut. To learn more about the Middlesex County Branch of the NAACP, click here. To learn about Ida, visit this page.
Who can Apply
The Ida M. Masselli NAACP Scholarship Fund welcomes applications from graduating high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to pursuing their education. To be eligible, students must:
- Have a GPA of 2.5 (C+) or higher at the end of the fall semester.
- Live in one of the towns served by The Middlesex County NAACP Branch:
- Chester

- Deep River
- Durham
- East Hampton
- Haddam
- East Haddam
- Essex
- Killingworth
- Middlefield
- Middletown
- Old Saybrook
- Portland
- Westbrook
