about Ida M. Masselli
lasting memories – lasting impact
Ida was, according to everyone who knew her, incredible. Her roots were here in Middlesex County, a place she loved. She instilled in her family that same love for community and all things local.
In 1960, Ida played a leading role in the local John F. Kennedy for President Campaign. She was an early and active supporter of the civil rights movement in the 1950s and ’60s. Ida served on the Middlefield Democratic Town Committee for many years. For several terms, she was Middlefield’s Registrar of Voters. She had a strong sense of commitment to others and believed in fairness and equality. She passed on these values to her children and grandchildren.
To continue her legacy, her son, Mark, and his family established two funds in her honor and loving memory: the Ida M. Masselli Fund, a donor advised endowed fund; and the Ida M. Masselli NAACP Scholarship Fund, which supports the NAACP-Middlesex County Chapter.
